The City of Newport Business Grants are now open. The grant scheme offers 50 per cent of net costs up to £2,500 for eligible businesses outside the city centre, and up to £5,000 for those located within the city centre boundary.
Investment supported must create a minimum of one new job. This can include your own job if you are a start-up, or new jobs that are directly employed in the business. However, this excludes freelancers and contractors.
The grant can be used for funding towards up to five equipment items, such as:
- plant and equipment
- ICT equipment and software
- website development
This grant cannot be used towards:
- salaries
- property refurbishment
- purchase of vehicles
- stock
- marketing and signage
- training and licences
- leased equipment
Applicants need to evidence that they have the funds to cover the total cost of the investment, as grants are paid once evidence is provided of the purchase. To register interest, you must sign in with your Newport Council account. Any issues, please contcat us on the app.
