The Welsh Government has reopened its social-housing loan scheme for 2025/26, allocating £36 million to help Registered Social Landlords deliver more affordable, low-carbon homes and upgrade existing properties to modern energy-efficiency and quality standards. The funding will be offered as low-cost loans of £1 million to £10 million, supporting both new builds and improvements required under the 2023 Welsh Housing Quality Standard. This investment builds on a previous £90 million loan scheme launched earlier in 2025, which was expected to create 277 new homes and upgrade more than 4,000 existing ones, signalling a strong governmental focus on addressing housing supply, affordability, and climate-focused home improvements across Wales.
